How to find out sentences according to meaning

A group of words that has a meaningful expression is called a sentence. From that point of view, there are five types of sentences according to the meaning. They are-

1. Assertive sentence
2. Interrogative sentence
3. Imperative sentence
4. Optative sentence
5. Exclamatory sentence

এক বা একাধিক শব্দ পাশাপাশি বসে কোন অর্থ প্রকাশ করলে তাকে বাক্য/ Sentence বলে। এখানে শর্ত হলো “অর্থ” থাকতে হবে। নচেৎ তা বাক্য নয়। আর এই অর্থের উপর ভিত্তি করে বাক্য/ Sentence কে ৫ ভাগে ভাগ করা যায়।

1. ASSERTIVE SENTENCE-

• Example:
• We live in Bangladesh.
• The people of Bangladesh are simple and poor.
• Blogger is a product of Google.
• Explanation: Here all the examples given above are assertive sentences as they have started with Subject + Verb.
• Short Code: Starts with Subject + Verb.

Assertive Sentence চেনার সহজ উপায় হলো- এই ধরণের বাক্যের শুরু হবে Sub + Verb দ্বারা।

2. INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE-

• Example:
• Don't we love our country?
• What is the name of your school?
• May I come in, Sir?
• Explanation: Here all the examples given above are Interrogative sentences as they have ended with interrogation sign  (?).
• Short Code: Ends with interrogation sign (?).

Interrogative Sentence চেনার সবচেয়ে সহজ। এবং মনে রাখতে না চাইলেও তা মনে থাকবে। কারণ এ জাতীয় বাক্যের শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক (?) চিহ্ন অবশ্যই থাকবে। কেননা এ ধরণের বাক্যগুলো দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করা হয় বা কোন কিছু জানতে চাওয়া হয়।

3. IMPERATIVE SENTENCE-

• Example:
• Come here.
• Let me help him.
• Don't look down upon the poor.
• Explanation: Here all the examples given above are imperative sentences as they have started with Verb.
• Short Code: Starts with Verb

Imperative Sentence গুলো সর্বদা Verb দ্বারা শুরু হয়।

4. OPTATIVE SENTENCE-

• Example:
• May Almighty bless you.
• Long live our president.
• May you be happy.
• Explanation: Here all the examples given above are optative sentences as they have started with May/ Long.
• Short Code: Starts with May / Long.

May / Long দ্বারা শুরু হয়ে শেষে Full stop (.) চিহ্ন থাকলে সেগুলো Optative Sentence হয়। লক্ষণীয়, May দ্বারা প্রশ্নবোধক বাক্যও গঠিত হয়। যেমন- May I come in? সেক্ষেত্রে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন থাকে শেষে।

5. EXCLAMATORY SENTENCE-

• Example:
• What a lovely garden it is !.
• How beautiful the palace is !
• Hurrah ! We have won the game.
• Explanation: Here all the examples given above are exclamatory sentences as they have exclamation sign ( ! ).
• Short Code: Ends with exclamation sign (!).

Exclamation sign / বিস্ময়সূচক (!) চিহ্ন শেষে থাকলে সেগুলো Exclamatory Sentence হয়ে থাকে।
