Bangladesh Secondary Education and Nationalization

edutechinfobd.blogspot.com
It is said that education is the backbone of a nation. But at present in Bangladesh, the scenario of secondary education is really very questionable. What is happening and what is the future of our entire education system? These are the common questions of the general people of the country. At the same time, the educationists are also very anxious regarding this. In fact, the reality is something like this as well. There are lots more reasons behind this. But the people of all walks should be more concern, remember and keep it in their mind that no development work is possible and sustainable without proper, modern and technical education. Today's world is more competitive and challenging and so, without knowledge and education, it is simply impossible to move our country forward. We have got our independence in the year 1971 yet, there is no stable education system, policies, curriculum and modern reliable syllabus for us. Each and everyday the Ministry of Education and the related parts of it are just publishing unrealistic circular and making the education system more vulnerable and unrest. This is extremely alarming and proves that the authority concern is not taking any decision which is in favor of our education. They are taking decision in the morning and postponing or changing it in the evening. While going through, you will find some links given below for instance and the drawbacks of the current secondary education of the country.

Abruptly including and excluding textbooks: Couple of Subjects have been off from board exam. But the simple question raises here, why have they been introduced or included only a few years ago without examining the importance of those subjects? What about the cost? Learn more from the notice here.

MPO postpone for the ICT teachers: The Govt. has declared to make this country as Digital Bangladesh. Whereas, the MPO (monthly pay order, govt part) of the ICT teachers have been postponed without any reason since 2011. Naturally, the teachers of this subject (ICT- Information and Communication Technology) are living from hand to mouth as the salary of the teachers of this subject is nothing. There has been published a circular by the ministry that the salary of the teachers should be ensured from the fund of the institutes which is really a very senseless decision as the other teachers of other subjects are getting their salary from the government. We see in the circular that the Govt. wants world class education of Information and Communication Technology without paying or just free of cost. How ridiculous! As a result, they are leading a poor life being a teacher. Shame ! Not only that, the appointment has also been help up through a controversial circular saying that the incumbents having 6 months diploma course certificate in Computer will be no more valid though it was a valid one and accepted one by the authority concern. But the good news is that this circular has now been withdrawn today. Learn more from here.

Negligence of authority concern: There is an obvious smell of negligence towards the teachers of secondary level. Where each and every employee of the Govt. draw their salary on the 1st instant, there the MPO teachers of the secondary level always face a kind of whimsical, unexpected & somehow intentional negligence from the authority concern regarding their salary or remuneration. How awful ! Will you find such sort of discrimination towards the teachers else where in the world? It seems that nobody is there to protest or say that this should not be happened to the architect of a nation. How disregardful! Learn more from here.

Coaching Business: Again, there are more severe problems in our secondary education. And at first here comes, the Coaching Business and Private Tuition of the teachers of this level which is the most destructive thing for our education. Due to this, our teachers are pretty much reluctant from the classroom teaching system. Since they didn't get proper remuneration, they take coaching as their business and earning source. But this thing has taken our education at the door of ruin. Now this has been a terrible syndicate across the country!

Huge tuition fees: There is no control over session fee and monthly fees of the students. The institutes are imposing fees in accordance with their sweet will. This is very surprising and creating a huge financial pressure to the general guardians of the country. No monitoring, no proper guidelines and no education friendly environment is creating which has turned our education into a commodity. And majority of the schools of the country have become the business centers.

Dependency on guide or notebooks: The situation is very alarming here that our education system never allows or fails to make our students  creative. The students can't make or find out any solution of any question and queries without the help of guidebooks, notebooks and the handouts of the teachers. What is the value of such sort of education which is making them dependent in lieu of making independent? If it continues, nation will get thousands of certificate holders, not manpower where we know very well that knowledge is power and education is asset.

GPA 5 is the root target: Our parents, relatives, teachers, students and in fact, the entire nation are running after GPA-5 forgetting the main purpose of the education. What a dangerous mentality this is! All of us have completely forgot that today's world is knowledge based world. We have also forgot that such type of education will never work for us and for the country as well. This will only ensure the certificates which are only papers in other words without perfect education.

Reluctance of the meritorious to join in teaching profession: The meritorious are not interested to join in teaching profession in Bangladesh. It is a matter of great regret that the system has fully failed to make this profession glorify rather, has created hundreds of problems. As a result, the meritorious have lost their interest and the nation has lost its golden sons from this profession. And we have got such type of useless education system. Good for nothing in short !

Lack of dignity: The teachers of this country are treated as a simple, ordinary and poor folk. General people has still a concept regarding our teachers that they are the men of this society carrying an umbrella under their arms. How can a notion move forward without paying a solid respect and ensuring a great honorarium to a teacher of their country? The thing must be realized by all and of course, the authority concern.

Discrimination and Nationalization: There are two types of educational institutes in secondary level in the country. One is Government, other is Non-Government. This is also ridiculous that anything can happen to a nation but, how there can be discrimination in the education sector. Tough to understand! So, there are certain differences between Govt. schools and Non-Govt. schools though the purposes, curriculum, syllabus and textbooks are same. The differences are in discipline and in salary. And this discrimination has created a battle field among the teachers of Govt. and Non-Govt. schools. By this time, none but our students and future citizens of this country are getting worst suffers and losers.
So, nationalization and only nationalization can be the one and only solution to get rid of the entire situation created in the secondary education sector in Bangladesh. Hope the education friendly Govt. of Bangladesh will take this issue seriously and come to an end to remove all the complexities of this sector. Wish them good luck!
